64 mountains in 66 months is not a bad record at all: a probable explanation for my sabbatical

the other day, after i demonstrated how my TNF talus 23 is pitched to the trainees in joven's group, someone from 2k8 asked why i won't be joining their TC2 in mount malipunyo, and i very politely said that i was on sabbatical from AMCI. she pursued her question and asked why i was on sabbatical. my friends were beginning to beam as knowledge of the reasons lit up in their heads, but i quickly said: if you've climbed sixty mountains in 3 years, you'd want to go on a break yourself! 60 was really a random number, and i wasn't sure if it was accurate. so today, i went back to my blog to see, in fact, how many mountains i've climbed since i took it up in 2004. here's my list (italicized are mountains that were climbed for the first time, or were new trails on old mountains):

so the current count is apparently 64. i wasn't exaggerating after all when i made that remark, shooting from the hip as i was. last year, i only climbed 13, while so far this year i've only had 5 hikes, the last one being in april. so i've climbed 64 mountains in the last 66 months (since i first climbed pulag in february 2003). it's not something to be embarrassed about. i plan to make it one mountain a month, at least. but i wonder if it's possible to lose your acumen for walking, whether my muscles would forget the act of pushing up steep slopes. i'd really dread that, notwithstanding the fact that i'm on sabbatical. i really must write entries for mountains 55, 56, 57, 58, and 61.
