experimenting on my hangover

while some might consider me fit because i engage in all sorts of physical activities like mountaineering and badminton, i take one look at myself at the mirror and dismiss any such delusion. i'm nowhere near the waistline i am wont to imagine, and to address this, i do a lot of cardio, mostly running. since after my last major climb to pulag, however, my running habits have suffered tremendously, and although i still get to do a few minutes at the treadmill in the gym, nothing quite beats chasing the wind, and pushing your foot against the asphalt.

running has not been purposeful for me, and i only do it for "general fitness" without much success. recently however, i have been more focused on my runs, not only because my tummy disgusts me, but also because i've signed up for the san mig light enduro adventure race (thank God they increased the number of teams in the novice category to 60!). i remember wanting to join a race like this, but it wasn't until dennis asked if i'd like to team up with him that i actually realized that i'd have to be in good shape if i want to do any good at it.

so i've started on a "training". for 2 weeks now, i have been consistently running 5km in under 30 minutes. my goal, really, is to be able to run 10km in an hour at least a week before the race, which is on july 8. i hope to do that next week.

incidentally, a very generous friend sponsored the bladder that i'll be using for the race. it's an orange TNF gulper, and it's really really super. i'll be trying it out this sunday during AMCI training. the last time i ran while there was sunlight was during the adidas king of the road last year! i'm afraid i might faint this sunday from sun shock. i mean, i get a lot of sun everyday, but i generally avoid running at daytime precisely because it's too hot! so i'll see if i'll survive 5km with a hydration pack and sun.

this morning, i woke up with a cleaving headache. let me put it this way: swirling smoke inside a cramped bar and 6 bottles of san mig light and 2 bottles of san mig strong ice make for a bad hangover. and i think i effectively reduced my IQ to that of a rock. i was observing myself earlier today on my way to the office (after lunch, no less), and i laughed quietly noticing that i stared blankly at people with my mouth slightly open. it's an awful feeling, being this drunk and having to work the next day. i could hardly focus, i mispronounce words, my diction's bad. i read somewhere that you can drink a pill before you start drinking to avoid hangovers like that. i wonder if it's locally available.

i have to keep reminding myself: resolve, resolve. will power. refuse. haha. but last night's joint birthday parties spark the start of a series of birthday parties, my own included! i don't if i'm loving it, or hating it.

same here! although I don't remember how many bottles of san mig light I had...but i do remember you handing me a bottle of red horse since they ran out of san mig light hehehe...syempre pinatulan ko pa rin although I wasn't able to finish the whole bottle...naku magdetox na tayo for the race!
basta! sa dami ng mga AMCI teams na kasali, dapata tayo ang una. primus inter pares: first among equals. haha.
